Cozy winter outfits can be extremely difficult to come up with. You want to look cute and be warm without looking like Randy from A Christmas Story. Amiright? So I have put together some super cute cozy winter outfits to help inspire you this season.
I know that many of you might not agree with me 100%, but I actually love winter. I love the coziness of the season (shocker), I love layers, I love the crisp air and I love a little dusting of snow. Do I dare say I love a snowstorm? I don’t know… I kinda do!
As much as I love winter, I can get a little lazy with my outfits. We don’t just want to throw on a coat over our pjs and the first scarf and hat we see. The style that I go for in the winter is effortless but we want to put in just a touch of thought into our cozy winter outfits.
I have compiled 29 pieces of clothing making up 19 outfits and I truly hope there is something for everyone here. I have cute outfits for home, cute winter outfits for going out and warm winter outfits. So let’s get into it!
This post is all about cozy winter outfits!
Cozy Winter Outfits
Outerwear
The first thing you need to think about when putting together cute winter outfits is outwear because it is the main part of your outfit that people are going to see if you are outside.
Wool Coat
An oversized wool coat is a staple that everyone needs to have in their wardrobe. Whether you have the black version or the camel color, it is a classic that everyone needs. Honestly, you could probably have pjs under this coat and no one would even notice.
Vest
A vest over a blazer is a perfect way to layer and this one is beautiful, soft and this gorgeous chocolate brown color.
Blazer
I had to throw in a neutral blazer because blazers are also a must have closet staple. Sometimes you want to be warm but don’t necessarily want to wear a bulky coat. A blazer can be layered in so many ways! Stick to a neutral so that you can easily incorporate this into many outfits.
Shacket
You can’t make it through a fall/winter season without a shacket. This plaid one from h&m is perfect! Because It is already an oversized fit, I got a small and love how it fits. Shackets are great because they are thick enough to keep you warm but thin enough to act as a layering piece. I love this shacket layered under the chocolate vest for extra warmth!
Fun Pattern
You guys… This coat from River Island is literally, like, my dream coat. Chef’s kiss…. it is perfection. The bold print, the sherpa fabric – It is the perfect way to add a little fun to your cute cozy winter outfits.
Pop of Color
For the most part, I am a neutral lover. I do, however, love a pop of color every now and then. This blue puffer is the perfect POP and, surprisingly, there are quite a few ways to style it if you get creative!
Shoes
Boots are obviously super important as a winter staple, but I really wanted to include some cute shoes that aren’t boots. All of the outfits I put together are cute, warm and functional. Cute sneakers and warm alternatives are what I stuck to in putting this list together. You will not see any heels on the list because here in the midwest, if you’re wearing heels in the winter, you are asking to hurt yourself. Haha!
Chelsea Boot
I love this outfit because, to me, it is just the ultimate cool girl look. These Chelsea boots are functional while still being cute as heck and the Spanx leggings you will wear into the ground. Chelsea boots are a classic and you will definitely wear them for years to come.
Platform Converse
These converse are a stylish option because they are not your typical converse. They have a platform heel to give you a little extra height while still acting as that classic converse that we all know and love. I loved this tan color because a lot of my winter wardrobe is in the neutral color palette and it’s not a color you see often! Plus, it has an awesome subtle pattern that gives it just a little extra sumpin, sumpin.
Nike Mid 77s
This one is simple and classic – all white with a black coat and hat and paired with Nike mid 77s. If you’re ever unsure of what to throw on, this is a tried and true look that won’t let you down. I have these shoes and love them SO FREAKING MUCH. They can literally be thrown on with anything for that instant cool factor.
Fun Color
I had to add a little pop of color for all my color lovers out there. I loved these Nikes paired with the blue puffer and orange hat. Everything else was kept simple in this look because we don’t want to have too much going on. My rule of thumb is if your going to wear a loud color or pattern, try to let that be the star of the show and keep everything else neutral. These Nikes were a great balance of fun without being over the top. I also love New Balance because they have a ton of different options!
Sorels
Sherpa bucket hats and Sorels make the cutest pairing with an all white outfit. Sorels are some of the cutest winter footwear because they are functional without sacrificing fashion. I LOVE this pair because they can go with everything!
Base Layers
What you have on as your base is super important. Are you going for warmth? Style? Both? As you can see in most of these looks, I like to keep it pretty simple and a lot of the looks start with a neutral base. When you’re working with neutral basics it makes it a lot easier to put together your outfits. Some staples that you definitely need in your wardrobe are: Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, A good pair of jeans (white, black or classic denim), bodysuits, and sweaters/hoodies in neutral colors.
Accessories
Accessories are super important because they can really change your look. My obvious staples for cozy winter outfits are: hats and scarves.
Usually, with hats, I would suggest getting one black, one cream and one gray. These will literally go with everything and the best part is you can throw them on whenever you are having a bad hair day or if you’re like me, haven’t washed your hair in a couple days. Haha!
I kept the scarves in my looks neutral but accessories are also a time to have fun! So, I would definitely play up patterns and colors! This faux fur one is so luxe and will definitely elevate any basic look!
That wraps it up! I hope you were inspired by these cozy winter outfits and I would love to see how you style these pieces in your wardrobe. A lot of these would work as cozy winter outfits for school, too!
